About A Boy

Dahil sa wala akong gagawin today kasi nga friday (flyday for people in the gov't.) kaya wala masyadong kliyenteng bumibisita sa office ay nagbrowse nalang ako sa internet. I happened to read an article (interview with Boy Abunda) from PEP which they posted yesterday. I got interested with the article that I thought of sharing it with you guys - sa mga followers ng blog ng maganda kong friend Mel.

FIGHTING FOR GAY RIGHTS. “ Ako I will fight for same-sex marriage. But I will not get married. I’m in a 25-year relationship pero hindi ako kasal. Ang pinaglalaban ko lang ay karapatan. You know, ang hinihingi ng mga bakla ay hindi naman doon sa sobra sa karapatan ng tao. Ang hinihingi ng mga bakla ay equal chances, equal opportunities, equal lang. May mga naniniwala sa same-sex marriage. I’ll fight for it, because that is a fundamental right. Pero sa personal, may iba akong paniniwala. Ayoko talagang pakasal.”

“I want people who believe in marriage to be happy. Happiness is not just about you… I’m not fighting this for myself. I’m fighting for the younger generation of gays. So that one day they can say na, Tatay, bakla po ako at kagalang-galang. Ang kagalang-galang doesn’t mean perfect, ha. Ang kagalang-galang may konting kalandian, may konting kasalanan, pero matino. Neither does it mean kapag sinabing bakla ay promiscuous. Doon ako nasasaktan. Promiscuity belongs to all, babae, lalaki, bakla, tomboy.

“Kami ni Bong, although we didn’t undergo the ceremony, we’ve been married many times in front of God. Ang advice ko rin sa mga bakla… I’m in a 25-year relationship pero hindi nangangahulugan na you’re assured of another day. Every day is a decision in a marriage. Hindi komo’t 25 years na kayo ay pababayaan na. Dapat sexy ka pa rin. Dapat nagpapa-facial ka pa rin.”

Ayon pa kay Boy, mahirap pa rin daw maging bakla sa panahon ngayon, kahit na nga sinasabi pang tanggap na ito ng society.“Mahirap din. Pero laban! Ako I’m proud to be gay, because for me it’s so divine. It’s the closest you can get to being an angel,” matalinghagang pahayag ni Boy.

TO THE YOUNG GENERATION: “I’ll tell you something, para ito sa mga batang bakla. This is such a blur o cliché. Parati kong sinasabi, be the best that you can be…because patuloy pa rin tayong lumalaban. You know people would say, ay tanggap na kayo. Maniwala ka, hindi pa rin. Sinasabi ko, be good, because one day we are going to produce gay world leaders. We’re going to produce a gay president. Be good, ang-aral kayong mabuti kasi katulad, mayroon tayong pagkakataon.

“Do not allow anybody to define you in your life. Lagi kong sinasabi, who you are is okay. Kung Bisaya ka okay ka. Sino bang nagsasabi sa iyo na dahil sa Bisaya ka ay bobo ka? Yung punto natin does not define what we think and how we think. Maraming mga estudyante, halimbawa sa classroom, ang nagsasabing, ‘Ayokong mag-recitation kasi baka mali ang English ko.’ Can you imagine, ilang mga pangarap ang hindi natutupad dahil sa takot?

“Ang daming pangarap, ang daming trabaho, ang daming pagkakataon ang nasayang dahil sa takot na, I’m not tall enough, dahil hindi matangos ang ilong ko, dahil hindi makinis ang balat ko. You know, building yourself is not easy. Pero ako pruweba ako, sa sa tapang ng loob, sa lahat ng dasal at paniniwala sa sarili, I made it,” pagtatapos ni Boy.

Hallows

KC's birthday is on the 31st and we are planning a surprise for him. So surprising even I might me surprised. Redundant. Hihi.

We're just gonna eat dinner and a few drinks. Gift giving. The usual.

Oh well, the three of us are going to celebrate pa rin.

Speaking of celebrations, this weekend is also the time to remember our departed loved ones. Paminsan-minsan lang to mangyayari sa isang taon so we might as well pay respect to them. Ikaw rin baka magparamdam sila sa'yo. Haha

Every year (except last year dahil nagbakasyon kami), we spend our time 'sementeryo-hopping'.

It's nice naman to stroll the cemetery during this time kasi parang may party. Lol

Years before, my friends and I would volunteer sa Red Cross to help the city's campaign for a peaceful and organised All Saints'/All Souls' Day. We would don our 'uniforms' and combat shoes, tapos rumampa sa entire cemetery carrying our first aid kits at baka may nangangailangan ng medication, assistance or whatever na maaring puede naming maibigay na tulong.

Masaya naman. Enjoy. Libre pa ang pagkain. I have no bad memories of my volunteering days. Nag enjoy ka na, nakatulong ka pa. May plus factor pa ang volunteering kasi we get to know and befriend other volunteers from different schools. And the cuties? Gosh, overwhelming. Hihi

Sana we can still do it this weekend. Maybe, this time, we'll be wearing heels. Good luck to us. Lol

Billionaire

My email is so busy.

It is bombarded with bogus messages from random senders informing me that I won a LOT of money, from either lotteries that I've never participated, 'sick' people asking to 'safekeep' their millions in my bank account, 'bankers' asking me to claim 'my millions' in their 'bank' raffle draws on random emails. In fairness walang Nigerian. Lol

Juice ko, if these emails were true, ang yaman2x ko na siguro puede ko nang bayaran ang utang ng Pilipinas. Eddie Gil isdatchu? =p

Hihi

I think out of the thousand similar emails like these circulated in the web may tanga pa rin silang nagogoyo kasi it's still proliferating eh.

Every now and then ay may natatanggap din akong ganitong uri sa text. May client nga kaming naging biktima ng ganitong lokohan. He lost P10,000.

Perwisyo!

Stateside

The US elections is fast approaching. Ilang tulog na lang at we'll know kung sino ang kakanta ng 'Ako Ang Nagwagi'. Will it be Republican John McCain and Sarah Palin or Democrat Barack Obama and Joe Biden?

Well, abangan na lang natin.

In the meantime, my attention was caught by the news lately about the recent 'developments' regarding the elections.

If I were an American (I'm British, by the way, lol) I believe in the platform of 'change' ng Democrats.

Anymisery, kahit na gusto kong mag 'BaRack The Vote' ay may napapansin lang ako sa US media coverage lalo na ng mga commentators ng either news or entertainment programs.

It seems there's a little bit of bias sa kanilang reporting or coverage.

I know, she's talked a lot of kapalpakan and out of this world statements lately but I've seen Joe Biden say thesame nakakalokang statements too. I think it's unfair.

I just wish that there will be balance in their deliveries. Afterall, the media is so influential and powerful they should exercise it rightfully.

On the other hand, the news on the $150,000 shopping makeover of Sarah Palin is making the headlines.

Ang sa akin lang, if the source of the money is legal, go! Gov.Palin needs a makeover and she deserves the best naman siguro. Afterall, she might be the next VP of the US of A.

I think sa sobrang kanegahan ng media to cover Gov.Palin, kinakalkal na nila lahat.

I don't know what's wrong with spending this money kung nasa budget naman talaga ng party nila ang 'shopping'. Hihi

The problem I think is that our society has a double standard pa rin. Yes she is a public figure and she's to be scrutinized by the people. I just think it's foul and degrading. When she appeared on SNL I think she deserves a pat on the shoulder for 'accepting' the ridicule she got and hopefully turn it around for her benefit.

If you disagree or want to correct me, you are free to react.

Oh Mandy!

I love Mandy Moore.

Sometimes I hate Mandy Moore.

I used to be like a Mandy Moore but I have mellowed down.

I even dated someone like Mandy Moore. Maybe her brother, I'm not sure but the way he behave is so Mandy Moore.

Edz dated a couple of Mandy Moores but has finally realised they were users.

KC is going out with a Mandy Moore but they are not committed. KC can detect a Mandy Moore within a 10meter radius. Parang bluetooth.

Unique is also dating a lesser version of a Mandy Moore.

Mandy Moore is bad.

So bad it can hurt you and the people around you.

Hurts your ego and personality, even your credit card bills.

I should know, I experienced the latter. Lol

It's not always bad to be a Mandy Moore though, only if taken in small doses and in the right place, time and person.

There's a Mandy Moore in all of us.

Post Depression

I have written something in my draft about my love for basketball but I decided not to post it yet. Maybe some other time.

I wrote it Saturday morning because I was scheduled to see a basketball game between Purefoods and Sta.Lucia wherein I will see, in flesh for the first time, in my opinion the most gorgeous man in Philippine basketball history,

Joseph Yeo.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch the game due to factors beyond my control.

No, it wasn't because I don't have a ticket, I had free access, courtesy of my 'kumpare' Peter June Simon (#8 Purefoods). Hindi lang talaga nakipag-cooperate ang nature.

Maybe fate doesn't want Joseph and I to cross paths.

Edz saw the game. I hated him over the weekend. =p

The game last weekend was the last of their provincial tour in Mindanao.

Damn!

I guess I have to be in Araneta one of these days to see him play.

Hmmm...

Sino kaya ang mabait na taga Maynila to accompany me.

Transformers

A few years ago, when I got my first pay check the first thing that I bought was a magazine. A fashion magazine of course.

From then on I started collecting issues of local fashion magazines which I buy every month, Mega, Metro, Preview and Cosmopolitan. Sometimes, I also buy US Vogue lalo na kapag collector's item ito, like the World's Top Models issue and the thickest issue every year.

Unfortunately, these magazines are starting to pile up na and storage is difficult. Nagiging clutter na ang mga ito so I decided to cut off these gastos. These are no longer in my monthly expense. Not all naman, I retained my favourite Preview. It's been my 'style bible'. I like how innovative and stylish this magazine is. And it's not all about clothing. There's food, make-up, lifestyle, art, etc. Kaabang-abang din ang kanilang monthly covers. Who's gonna be next? Which personality's gonna be turned into a style muse? I don't know if it's a positive thing when my friends and I cannot recognise the cover model at first glance but I think it's interesting to see actress Judy Ann Santos or Jolina Magdangal in Pinoy couture. Who would've thought that such local magazine can make these stuff.

Mega and Metro are also good but my heart is for Preview. Their editors are young kasi. hahaha!

I just wish that they bring back 'real' runway models on the cover. But what can I do, actors sell better than models. Even US Vogue is doing it.

Here are some of the recent and my favourite covers of Preview magazine.

I

On my own.

Alone.

Desolate.

Desperate.

Numb.

It's that time in life again when you need to face such realisation.

Wala lang.

Sad lang ako.

I feel like being left out by the world but can't do something about it.

Everything seems to be out of reach.

Tired.

Weary.

Confused.

I will pick up the pieces again and compose myself.

A smile can cover a thousand emotions.

Afraid.

Somnolent.

Hopeful.

Thank you Fiona Apple.

Iron Lady

Dry cleaning is good as long as it's accessible to you and can still afford it. After the gruesome washing of clothes, ano pa nga ba ang kasunod kundi ang pamamlantsa.

Although ironing clothes is no fun at all, the fulfillment you get after finishing the job and seeing all the ironed clothes neatly folded or in their respective hangers, is rewarding.

Ecstatic.

Orgasmic.

Lol.

I learned to iron clothes when I was still in grade school. During high school on weekends, my task is to iron ALL of our clothes. I'm not exaggerating. Charing! Actually, almost ALL lang pala. Hihi

I do my own, my parents' and my brother's.

Perfectionist ako in ironing. Lalo na kapag ang white polo na uniform namin, kelangan wrinkle-less up to the last millimeter. Ang slacks, kelangan pantay ang crease. Crisp na crisp. Pati denim pants may crease. Lol

Nowadays, I still got no confidence kapag ibang tao ang paplantsa ng aking damit. Ako pa rin ang best plantsadora for me. Medyo OC yata ako when it comes to this pero what can I do, eh sa ito ang gusto ko.

Na-trauma na siguro ako kaya ganun. One time, I borrowed a pair of black pants from a friend para isuot sa isang event. Lol

For me ha, mas maigi pa rin talaga ang normal handwashing and ironing. You'll never know what goes or what happens to your clothes in the hands of the dry cleaners.

Eeeeew?! Hahaha

Anyway, my point in posting this and the previous entry is....

Tumatanggap na ako ng labada at pamamalantsa on weekends.

Interested parties please leave a comment, or email me, or text me.

Rates are negotiable.

Rules and conditions do apply.

Laundry Service

They say you don't, or are not suppose to air dirty laundry in public.

Siyempre, dahil sunud-sunuran naman tayo sa dikta ng 'righteous living' and para maging 'in sync' sa morals ng society, we follow that rule.

Sige na nga.

On the contrary, 'di ba mas mabuti siguro na ikaw na mag-air ng iyong 'dirty laundry' kesa ibang tao pa magsabi nito. The earlier the people know about it, the better are the chances of them becoming more forgivable of whatever that thing is.

Anyway, enough of the kaeklatan.

Yes.

I am going to reveal my dirty laundry.

Literally.

How often do you do laundry? Do you do it by yourself? Labandera? Washing machine? Hand-wash? Laundry shops? Dry-cleaners?

Wow.

The list goes on.

At an early age, I was taught to do my own labada. Tinuruan din kaming magkakapatid about couture segregation.

I consider one of the best inventions ang washing machine. I remember when I started living here sa bukid, I immediately looked sa kusina kung may washing machine. Wala. Fcuk.

Hate na hate ko talaga ang paglalaba. I'd rather wash dishes kahit 24hours pa, 'wag lang akong maglaba.

It's thesame strenuous activity. Less kuskos-piga nga lang.

With so much office and farm work, mahirap pa rin bigyan ng panahon ang paglalaba. I mean, I can do it once a week pero mahirap pa rin. Or baka tamad lang talaga ako. Lol

Shirts, pants, shorts, undies, hankies, ties, coats, jackets, pillow cases, towels, blanket, bedsheet, skirts (hehe) at iba pa. I have to do it on weekends, the whole day by my own, to finish it. Yun nga lang, when one item is ruined, you can't blame her kahit gawain nya iyon. I need her help noh.

Sa hirap ng paglalaba, I have high respects sa mga labandera. Mahirap yata mag kuskos-piga tapos nakaupo, masakit na sa likod, basa ka pa the whole time. I know some who are paid just P250 for the whole day regardless of the number of clothing to wash. Meron nga lower pa eh. I think they should be paid more and dapat free food during the extent of work.

Mabuhay ang mga labandera!

In the meantime, maglalaba muna ako.

3/48

Haggard.

Over the last 48 hours of my boring life, I only have 3 hours of sleep. At hindi pa talaga yun straight kasi may moments pa na nagigising ako sa ingay sa labas.

Despite my lack of sleep and 'rude' attitude due to sleep deprivation and alcohol, I managed to meet new friends.

9 to be exact.

I met majority of them through my designer friend Dhan's last minute overnight 'party' at the beach.

It happened to be my old, as in high school old super duper friend Ronnie who celebrated his birthday today. He is XX years old.

Nag-reminisce ng old times and memories of our 'childhood', coming out stories, miss gay adventures, escapades and sexcapades. lol

I miss him pala terribly. He never fails to make me laugh. We even did an impromptu photo shoot of him wearing his outrageous over-the-top dresses. Nananahi na pala siya ngayon.

One thing's changed though. He keeps on calling me Nel.

His work partner kasi is Ronnel and they're always together everyday because of their work.

Anywhore, I also met this cute guy Dexter kanina when Ronnie had his cellphone checked. He's a technician. Ang gwapo niyang ngumiti, I had an orgasm. Lol

Kinda shorter than me nga lang. Maybe he's 5'2", eh 5'7" ako.

But I can already foresee that we'll look cute together. Lol. I hope to see him next weekend, he gave me his number. Ang ganda ko siguro kanina. Haha

I need to sleep na. I have to be awake by 4am.

Back to normal na naman bukas.

XOXO

P.S.

Thanks to my super friends Dee, Leah, Grefel and pretty inaanak Iya Nable for the wonderful gifts. Bestfriend KC for the fabulous Puma bag. Manang for the turtle pillow. Unique, asa na ang picture frames? Lol

Counting The Days

Every night before the nightly news ends, palaging nire-remind ni Karen Davila, or Julius Babao, or Ted Failon (I don't watch GMA-7, barf =p) kung ilang tulog na lang before mag Pasko.

Ok, for me it gets annoying na. I mean, I don't care counting the days 'til Christmas and honestly I'm not looking forward to that 'season' every year. And I say now, why bother?

I hate it when that time of the year comes. Not just the holidays but its entirety.

Let's face it.

Christmas today is too commercialised.

It no longer signify the birth of Jesus but commerce at its brightest moment.

The birth of our Saviour is something that should be celebrated in solemnity and in deep expression of love to humankind.

It's just that when we say Christmas, what comes to mind is party, exchanging gifts, vacation, bonuses.

Or maybe it's just me?

Leche.

Totoo naman 'di ba?

Unless you're in the spot like in a beauty contest question and answer portion then you would answer something poetic (but true) pero in reality ang 'babaw' naman talaga nito para sa kanya.

'You see the meaning of Christmas in a child's eyes.'

Talaga lang ha? Eh I see other things in a child's eyes. Muta. Lol

But how do you see that in a hungry child's eyes? Ah ewan. Lalo akong naguguluhan.

Bakit ba ako nagra-rant about this?

Siguro you'll think I have bad Christmas experiences. Maybe. I just hate this time of the year. Hectic palagi. Traffic is bad. Not just vehicular traffic but also human traffic. Noise is tripled.

The color red is so overrated. I mean, I love red but when I see red in almost everything that I can see, nakakasuka na.

But

The worst thing is that it's this time of the year that you see a vivid separation between those who have and those who have nothing.

Noh?

The only thing that makes me smile during this time of the year is this.

CHARITY.

People tend to be more giving during Christmas.

Maybe it's because of some 'spiritual possession'? I hope so.

Well, maybe someday I will learn to love this time of the year again.

Baka matagpuan ko rin ulet ang hinahanap kong happiness, meaning and the importance of this one BIG holiday.

Now if only I could find my old Christmas stockings....

Titleholder

October.

United Nations month.

What goes into your mind when it is mentioned?

I don't know about you pero sa aking murang isipan ang naiisip at naaalala ko tuwing United Nations month is the parade of costumes from different countries.

Yung tipong Miss Universe parade of nations.

When I was still in intermediate grade school (sa isang public school) tuwing October nagkakaroon ng Mr. and Miss UN. Yung eventual winners ay determined through a raffle kaya it's anybody's game talaga. Regardless if ang suot mo does not fit the country you are representing.

I wore a white long sleeve with a bow tie, black pants, black shoes, at fedora na may feather.

When the winners were announced, panalo sa male category si Mr. USA, naka-americana kasi siya. Hello? Lol

'And the best in costume for the girls is Miss......

PHILIPPINES!'

Nagulat kaming lahat. Namutla si Mommy sa shock. Bwahaha!

Teka, may take-it take-it yata na nangyari?!

Ano ba ang suot ni Miss Philippines?

Well, mukha siyang flag ng Pilipinas. According to the judges, very 'nationalistic' kasi.

Huwhaaaat?!

The following year, hindi na kami sumali. =p

Blind

Alarming.

Many of you know na hindi na ako nagbabasa ng broadsheets or tabloid maliban na lang sa entertainment and lifestyle section.

Today's frontpage article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer though caught my attention.

It's the news article regarding the executive clemency of convicted murderer Claudio Teehankee Jr.

It was in 1991 when he killed 16year old Maureen Hultman and friend Roland John Chapman, and fatally shooting their companion Jussi Olavi Leino.

This was a high profile case then because of the people involved. I remember my parents discussing it over coffee in the morning when the newspaper is delivered.

Fast forward today, Mr. Teehankee was released from jail Friday night. Thanks to the executive clemency given to him by Ate Glo.

So ano ba ang masasabi nyo?

Nakakaloka?

Nakakagulat?

Or dedma lang?

Ewan.

The release even happened at midnight last Friday. Normal pa ba yun?

Ayoko nang ielaborate ang details ng release ni Mr. Teehankee and the conditions and reasons of the executive clemency.

The murdered victims' family?

Tayo?

I wanna puke.

Lovers

I have been single for a long time.

Thanks to my friend Edz, binigyan niya ako ng bagong mamahalin.

Hindi lang isa, kundi dalawa.

Si Raul and si George.

Now, I'm torn between the two of them kung sino sa kanila ang mas bibigyan ko ng pansin.

I love them both.

Mahirap pala ang nasa ganitong sitwasyon. I never felt so loved and certainly I did not expect that I could love two at the same time.

First time kong maranasan ang mamangka sa dalawang ilog.

I don't know how can I make this relationship work but I know I can make a way to make this relationship a success.

I'm worried though that the two of them live together pa. They know each other before Edz and I met them.

Gustuhin ko mang mahalin ang isa lang sa kanila but I don't have much choice.

Help me.

By the way, here's a photo of Raul in green/white and George in yellow.

Ang cute nila noh? Lol

Thanks Edz. =P

Meanwhile, here's more of our photos in Plantation Bay.

Love, Lust and Lullaby

Blur.

Have you ever felt something weird minsan kapag may nakita kang tao and you become attracted to him/her/it and you run out of words to say or you cannot even look at him/her/it straight in the eye? Because whenever you try to look or kahit glance lang para 'wag makalimutan ang mukha nya ay nakatingin din pala siya sa'yo?

If yes, ano ba ang tawag doon? Lol

Simpleng attraction?

Love at first sight?

Lust?

Normally, sa ganitong eksena nagsisimula ang lahat. Tapos konting hi hello, or you ask for that person's number (or the other way around).

After that initial meeting, you communicate through texting. Sisimulan mo ng 'hi, this is eklat from last night. how are u, what's up for u, watcha doin', etc. etc.

Then tetextback siya after a few minutes, or hours, or days. Yun pala wala siyang load.

Pagkatapos ng 'getting to know you stage through SMS' you both agreed to see each other.

Usually, sa mall, or coffee shop, or sa restaurant. Konting talk, konting flirting.

At this stage you know attraction is mutual.

You both agreed not to go home early, you decided na manood ng last full show after dinner.

After the movie, punta kayo sa isang bar to unwind. Drink alcohol or something.

When the level of toxicity is high, same goes with your confidence.

You become more physical.

Sensual.

Siya rin kunwari lasing na para magkaroon ng excuse to do thesame sa'yo.

Tapos, neither of you can't drive yourselves pauwi kasi nga lasing na, you decided to get a cab.

Ay, antok na ako. Hindi ko na tatapusin. Kayo na lang ang tumapos. =p

Over The Rainbow

Yes!

I have been authorised by the ever gorgeous Lyka Bergen to co-author our newest blog home Rainbow Bloggers Philippines. It is an honor indeed na mapabilang sa grupong ito ng mga magaganda at matatalinong nilalang. Hihi

Anyway, as my very first entry in RBP, I decided to write about what happened to my friends and I during our recent vaykay in Plantation Bay. As much as we enjoyed our stay there, may konting 'pangyayari' na hindi namin inexpect at medyo hindi nagustuhan.

It is so relevant and I know many of you can relate and learn a thing or two from our experience.

Bitten

Caution: spoiler below

Last night's episode on Project Runway Philippines was supposed to be the most exciting challenge.

To create an avant garde look made out of indigenous fabrics, abaca, piña and silk.

Special guest Agriculture Sec. Arthur Yap introduced the challenge to the 5 finalists.

Guest judge was stylist Michael Salientes.

So what happened?

The 5 finalists' finished (or unfinished) outfifts were quite disappointing talaga. Compared to the creations made by Project Runway US Season 4, ho-hum ang ginawa ng mga local counterpart.

The outfits made were kinda 'wearable' except Mara's.

The worst creation for me (I hate to say this) was Veejay's.

I expected more. As in extravagance!

All of the outfits were bitin talaga. Gosh.

To think this challenge should've given them the option to go over the edge, walang nag gamble or nag try to be more adventurous.

Result:

Winner: Mara

Bottom 2: Veejay and Jaz

Out: Jaz

Shocking noh? I thought Jaz will make it to the final 3, considering her very good performances from the past challenges.
And her outfit wasn't the worst.

I know many of you disagrees (will disagree) sa naging resulta.

Sabi nga ni Heidi Klum, 'one day you're in, the next day you're out'.

I know Jaz will still be a 'force to be reckoned with' in the next coming days in Philippine fashion. She's a good person.
