Sad at 23

23 years.

Yes, 23 years old na.

No, not me.

I’m only 17. Charing!

I’m talking about EDSA 1.

The very first People Power Revolution that ousted a corrupt leader. A revolution that changed and shaped this nation. A symbol of unity and freedom that gave hope not only for its people but also inspired other countries to do the same.

When EDSA 1 broke out, I was already conscious of what was going on. My parents and I were in the streets of DC rallying for a better government. I was a little gurl then. My father would carry me and let me sit on top of our jeepney so that I can see a clearer vision of what’s happening. I remember that day earlier, we were watching tv and my uncle came around. He told us that they were going to the streets to rally in support of the opposition leader who should’ve won the snap elections but was cheated by the administration candidate.

The lingering question then was, what could a grieving widow with no political experience do to a country struggling for freedom.

But the people wants her. They made her the president.

When President Cory Aquino took over as our first woman president, the whole world looked at women political leaders seriously.

EDSA 1 was a very important event.

Was.

It's a different ball game now.

Yesterday, February 25 should’ve been a very important day. It marked the 23rd anniversary of the first people power revolution. But to my dismay, it was just like Tuesday.

Disappointing.

My sentiments are with former Pres. Fidel Ramos. Click here for the entire article.

This present administration doesn’t care. This government owes something from the past. This government should’ve been nothing without that very special day. Ano ba naman ang dalawang oras na saluduhan at bigyan ng importansya ang EDSA 1.

Afterall, it inspired the same revolution that catapulted her to where she is now.

Nakakaloka talaga itong lola niyo.

Ginawa pang excuse ang job fair. Nag-iinterview kuno. Chosera.

Tse!

Multuhin sana kayo ni Cardinal Sin.

Amen.
