When Shit Hits The Fan

(This is my sister's second contribution to my blog. Thanks again Manang.)

Life is full of ironies and I don’t mean iron the element because I seem to be on the low right now and no, it’s not iron the metal though we do have a lot of junkyards around.

What I mean is when just about everything is going okay and all of a sudden someone or something hits you right in the face.

Like shit… Literally.

I was dressed and made up, ready to go to church before doing all my errands.

Getting ready for me means taking a 30 minute bath and another 30 minutes for putting a “barely there” make up and selecting another classic outfit. Yes I do lean on the classic side unlike my brother Mel who’s quite adventurous and daring. I like to play it safe-sometimes.

Speaking of looks, I feel quite lucky because there are 3 “girls” in the family and we do love to shop. Not that we have the same fashion sense but it’s fun to shop together especially when someone else “volunteers” to pay the bills (thank you Mel).

Mel sometimes goes for the “non-traditional” and unique stuff. He’d buy pants from MFG because they like to add a little twist to everyday wear like semi-velvet pants with studs all over the side, tie-dyed effects and ruchings. They’re fun though but if he asks YOU to iron it, it can be a pain in the ass.

Bags and more bags are a passion we all share with our mom. I don’t even dare to count the number of bags we all have but according to Daddy, had we saved the money we used to buy them, we’d have a new car. OUCH! my younger sister Gigi naman goes for the rugged looks. She like to buy rubber shoes, pants (Levis lang please) and polo shirts. Sometimes Mel and I “persuade” (more like coerce) her into wearing something a little bit more feminine but I don’t know, she still insists on adding something that quite literally ruins the whole look. Oh well, she’s still a work in progress. So when she asks us what bag, clothes, or shoes we want her to get us, we have to send her specific details like color, brand, and material. Thank God for the net, we just send her a picture. Yet again, it’s still a hit or miss thing.

And me?

Everything classic. I like to wear black. I’m the one who pairs denim jeans with a black blouse, black bag, and black shoes. I’m the one who wears slacks and polos. I’m the one who likes to color-coordinate. I’m the one who hates “loud” colors. I’m the one who gets to wear 4-inch heels to work because Mel, Edwin, KC and Unique thinks its appropriate for a corporate attire. What’s so appropriate with wearing stilettos when your job consists of standing 10 hours a day?

I’m the one who asked for a simple bolero and got an “Imeldific” one. I’m the one who had to try out gladiator shoes in fuschia and lime, who had to try out whatever those 4 fashion-savvy balizing gurls deem good for me.

Help me understand....

So what’s the relevance of all this with ironies? Maybe nothing so forgive me, I do tend to wander off. But then again this is how I write.

Aaanywaaay, yun nga there I was all dressed up when all of a sudden, my niece Zoe, who is 2 years old and a budding diva said “nag-happy popo ako titams”. Patay, sabi ko.

Kasi ganito yun.

Sa sobrang spoiled nito e kung sino mapipili niya na kunwari magtimpla ng milk niya or mag-change ng diaper niya e kailangang sumunod or else tantrums galore na etech. So no choice. I put my bag down and went to get her baby wipes and proceeded to clean her cute butt. I was almost done when Zoe, reacting to her cousins teasings kicked the soiled diaper and that’s when shit hits the one who is right in front of it.

ME!

Have a nice day everyone.
