Xerox

Like me, my friend Ian is photogenic. LOL

Actually, he’s quite good looking in person. He’s a dead ringer for John Lloyd Cruz. In his photos he sometimes look like Jake Cuenca.

Unfortunately his good looks are also a disadvantage.

His photos from his friendster and facebook accounts are used by other people to create bogus accounts not only in those two networking websites that I mentioned but also in Guys4Men, PlanetRomeo, Tag and so on.

A few times when we go out especially on a Saturday night, someone would oddly approach him and introduce themselves as one of his ‘friends’ in those websites. Sometimes he would even get free drinks from those ‘friends’. One time he was approached by an aggressive ‘friend’ and confronted him why he hasn’t kept in touch after a wild webcam session. That shocked us but for Ian, it’s a regular thing already. He then politely answered that he is not the owner of those accounts. Nasanay na daw siya sa kanyang mga poseurs.

Anyway last weekend, a friend who’s an avid user of PlanetRomeo discovered that another person is using Ian’s photos. I informed Ian and he asked me to send a mail to that poseur. I logged in to that site but unfortunately I wasn’t able to browse or search the user because I was not a registered user. So I registered under the name of my favourite movie character BeatrixKiddo...

And I uploaded a photo of my crush Imran Abbas in the account.

After completing the registration I searched for that poseur's username and left him a message.

When I was about to exit the site, I noticed I have 50plus messages in my inbox.

Naloka ako sa mga messages.

Some of them were asking if I was really the one in the photo. Some were asking for my mobile number. Some were giving their numbers and addresses. One of them is from the US but would go to my location if I would say yes to what he was asking.

And…

Most of the were asking were they could meet me so that we can do ‘the thing’.

LOL

Feeling ko naman ang ganda ganda ko. I’m so in demand! Bwahahaha!

I am so naïve. Ganito pala ang kalakaran sa mga ganitong websites noh, lalo na kung good-looking ka, nakakaloka ang proposals. Ganito pala ang feeling ng mga gwapo noh?

Hahaha!

I think it’s so funny but at the same time it actually felt good.

Now I know and understand why poseurs exist. It makes them feel good kasi.

By the way I did not answer any of those messages. I deleted that account after 24 hours. Hihihi

it has always seemed so short-sighted to use someone else's photo to trick someone into meeting you. but, a practice that persists.

line of flight: true. in the end it doesn't give total satisfaction. sa simula pa lang fake na, wala din meeting na mangyayari.
