The Signature Pose

Naomi Campbell is known for her signature walk.

While Cindy Crawford has a signature mole.

Agyness Deyn is known for her signature hairstyle.

While Caroline Trentini is famous for her signature jump shot,

And Chanel Iman does a signature wink.

Yesterday, I was arranging photos to be uploaded on my facebook when I noticed a similarity in my poses shot on four different occasions.

Eto yun.

The last photo prompted my friend Edz’ father to ask,

“Edwin, may stiff neck ba si Mel?”

So much for a signature pose. Hahaha!

Gleeful

The best album since forever.

Whoever created this TV series should be called a living saint.

Thank you very much!

A little disappointing though because some songs featured in the show did not make it to the album because it wasn’t sang by the group or any of the cast. Sorry, but no Rehab, Mercy or Bootylicious y’all.

The War

I hate farmville.

Hahaha!

Meanwhile, my sister is so addicted to it like perhaps 99% of the facebook population.

I hate it when I'm home and I can't use our pc because she is so busy with her farm.

Here's a little conversation my sister and I had early this evening.

Me: Manang, yang farm mo sa farmville, may option ba diyan na "Burn farm" or "Kill animals"?

Manang: Wala. Pero may alam akong ibang option.

Me: Ano?

Manang: "Delete blog".

Me: Ah okay. Sige. Change topic.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Open Arms

The thing that I hate about the holiday season is extreme human and vehicular traffic. Everybody’s going to the mall and bazaars to buy something, forgetting the real essence of the season. And they say that the real meaning of Christmas is sharing and giving, which, I totally agree. Yun naman talaga ang importante ‘di ba?

Share and give especially to those in need.

Anyway, dahil kaliwa’t kanan ang mga parties and invitations, siyempre dumadami na rin ang regalong natanggap ko and this is why I love this season. Hahaha!
So far here’s a list of what I’ve received from friends, loved ones and ex-boyfriends. Charing!

-a yellow bath towel
-a Liz Claiborne wallet
-a maroon blanket
-a red Dickies shirt
-a bottle of Chivas Regal scotch whiskey
-a basketball jersey
-a planner with fur as cover
-a bejeweled headband
-a leather envelope from Gibi
-a pair of Cole Haan shades
-a fedora hat from People are People
-a fake LV clutch
-a Spongebob Squarepants pillow
-a silver bangle
-a navy blue pique shirt
-a gold bracelet

Yes, hindi ko na inintay ang December 25 to open the gifts. Matutulog lang naman ako buong araw ng 25 noh so might as well do the gift opening as soon as I receive them. Hahaha!

Keep the gifts coming though, tumatanggap pa ako hanggang Valentine’s Day.

Whoever said that “It is better to give than to receive” is totally wrong. It is so much better to receive than to give. Hahaha!

Maraming salamat sa mga nag-alay ng mga regalong nabanggit ko, and to all of you who included me in their prayers. May you have a Merry Christmas too and so much gifts to open.

The Women Of 2009

As the year ends, magsasawa kayo sa random lists na gagawin ko hanggang maubusan ako ng ililista. Hahaha!

Tulad ng list na ito about women who either mattered or made sense or just because they made it to the news in 2009. It doesn’t mean that I admire them noh, although they wouldn’t made it to my list if I didn’t liked them in the first place. Charing!

By the way this is not in ranking order ha. Random lang ito.

So, here it is. My list of The Women of 2009.

Lady Gaga

The most visible, interesting and controversially talented artist of 2009, Lady Gaga is being deemed as the New Generation’s Madonna. After Just Dance, Poker Face and Paparazzi, she is now back (bakit nawala ba siya?) with a new hit Bad Romance. Juice ko ‘day, LSS ko na ‘to parati. Nakaka-gaga itong si Lady Gaga.

Megan Fox

I may not like her but this little diva is one helluva eksenadora. Men worship her, women envy her and I hate her for being beautiful. She is being tagged as the next Angelina Jolie and even managed to snatch the Armani ad campaign from Victoria Beckham, proving that this biatch has arrived not only in Hollywood but also in the world of fashion.

Kate Gosselin

Probably the most talked about hairstyle after Jennifer Aniston. Kate entered the world of entertainment together with husband Jon and their 8 children via the reality show Jon & Kate Plus Eight. Although the show has now been cancelled, it did not stop her from calling everything quits. She is scheduled to star in a show of her own next year.

Victoria Beckham

This list wouldn’t be complete if wala ang lola ko noh. This year, Victoria became more popular than her superstar husband but still maintained her most important role in life, being a mother. After calling it off with the Spice Girls, she continued to be in the limelight juggling work as a model, endorser, designer and of course, guest judge on American Idol. We’ll definitely see more of her next year.

Charice Pempengco

A superstar still in the making, Charice made us proud to be a country with so many talents. Her debut single Note To God did not became a hit but she continues to make us proud by appearing in various events and performances together with world class talents and celebrities. She is also appearing in the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks so hindi pa rin chaka ang career ng lola niyo. More projects to come next year, hopefully.

Kate Winslet

Being nominated for an Oscar many times and still not winning, this year became Kate’s lucky year. Starring in two powerhouse movies, Revolutionary Road and The Reader, it would have been very controversial if she didn’t win. Her performance on both movies are spectacular and emotionally riveting. Totally deserved.

Susan Boyle

Holding the record for the most viewed video on YouTube, Susan Boyle surprised all of us when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent. She did not win the competition but she became the most successful contestant in the history of the reality contest. With a chart topping debut album at hand, Aling Susan is not going anywhere.

Jinkee Pacquiao

With a superstar boxer and a womanizing one at that as a husband, Jinkee showed us what a wife and mother should do in times of controversy. Stand by your man and beat that bitch. Manny’s money is for the family only noh, not the other one’s family. Despite the pain and heartache, it did not stop her from invading Chanel, Hermes and Gucci, proving to us and to that slut who really has the money/Manny.

Maricar Reyes

Who wouldn’t recognize this woman from that raunchy sex videos. But instead of hiding and probably sulking in the dark, she exposed herself in the world of local showbiz. She even made it to the cover of Metro magazine, telling her side of the story. I admire Maricar for being a strong woman despite the controversy. Silence indeed is her strongest weapon.

The Aquino Women

The death of our beloved president Cory Aquino put the rest of the Aquino women into the limelight. Hindi na lang si Kris ang star ng pamilya but also Ballsy, Pinky and Viel. They showed us a different Aquino unlike Kris. Simple, down to earth and tactful. After their brother Noynoy declared his bid for the presidency, all his sisters were there to support him. They showed us the importance of the family’s role in times of grief and whenever we needed them most.

Well, that’s it mga friendship. I hope you like my list.

Until next year.

Baby Phat

A little SMS conversation I had with the gurls this afternoon.

Me: Bakit ako cute? Haaay....

Edz: Jusko!

Me: Huwag kang masyadong mag-react balyena.

Me: Fat is adorable, not cute. Katulad niyong dalawa, pareho kayong adorable.

Me: Basta ako, I’m not mataba. I’m voluptuous.

Moral lesson: Masama ang magsinungaling. Mas lalong masama ang maging denial. Pinakamasama ang maging ilusyunada. Hahaha!

Outsmarting Smart

Okay.

I have two cellphones like probably most of you. One is for Smart, which I use most of the time, and one is for Globe because I have friends subscribed solely to Globe and they don’t respond that much if I use Smart when texting them. I don’t subscribe to Sun kasi wala naman signal ang Sun dito sa bukid.

Way back in 2001, I was a loyal subscriber of Globe. It lasted for three years but when my boss switched to Smart, nakisabay na rin ako. Nung ma-uso ang mobile chatting sa Globe, I bought another phone to avail of the free chat promo. Enjoy kasi ang mobile chatting and doon ko nakilala ang karamihan sa mga friends ko all over the country. If you are familiar with MyChat or The Park, I used to chat there. In fact, I was one of the moderators/rangers of the said chat sites.

Anyway, back to the topic. Nalihis na naman ako ng landas.

My friend Unique was calling me kanina and when I answered the call, he was laughing because I have a ringback tune daw to the tune of Martin Nievera's version of “Give Love on Christmas Day”. Siyempre nagtaka ako because I don’t subscribe to ringback tunes. Pang-jologs lang yan. Hahaha! Charing.

Do you know how much these mobile providers charge for a ringback tune? I think around P15 to P30 depending on the song if it is an old one or the ones in promos or the popular ones like for example, the songs featured on the New Moon soundtrack.

There’s nothing wrong with having a ringback tune but my point is, hindi naman ako nag-subscribe noh and they might've charged me for something that I did not avail. Punyeta!

I called Smart’s customer care hotline and fortunately I got in agad in my first attempt. Most of the time when I try to call the customer care hotline using my prepaid sim, hindi sinasagot ang tawag, that's why I have to use the company’s line which is on Plan P5000 para mabilis sagutin ang anumang katanungan ko.

The operator answered in Bisaya which surprised me. So I told her about my concern and she asked me to hold because she’ll check daw my problem. I waited for 5 minutes and when she got back this is how our conversation went:

Her: Ma’am, you were browsing through your phone today and it charged you P90 for internet browsing.

Me: So? Ano ang connection nun sa problema ko? I'm asking why do I have a ringback tune when hindi naman ako nag-subscribe ng ringback, not about how much I spent today for internet browsing. Ano ang nangyari?

Her: Ummm.. Let me check again ma’am. Please hold.

After a few minutes…

Her: Ma’am, thank you for wating. About your concern, please type the word CHECK and send to 265, you will receive a text message and just follow the instructions to cancel your subscription.

Me: Okay, thanks.

Her: May mga katanungan pa po ba kayo ma’am.

Me: Wala na.

Her: Daghang salamat and happy holidays po.

Me: Whatever.

She’s probably thinking, bruhang bakla ang nakausap niya. Hahaha!

So, I immediately typed CHECK and sent it to 265. Thirty minutes na ang lumipas and wala pa rin akong SMS na natanggap galing sa impyerno so I called again.

I told this female operator about my concern and she quickly knew what happened to me.

This is her explanation. Apparently, if you make a Pasaload transaction (which I did), you'll receive a free ringback tune that is good for 5 days. If you like it and want it to stay, pabayaan niyo lang daw but you'll be deducted na this time for a fee because you are now availing of the said promo. But if you don't like it (like I do) you must follow this simple instruction.

Type CHECK and send it to 2728, not 265 like the first operator told me. Gaga.

You'll receive an SMS informing you of what songs are in your Jukebox. To delete it, text DEL [keyword of the song] and send it to 2728. If you don't want all the songs in your Jukebox, text STOP ALL and send it to 2728. I did the latter.

Problem solved for now.

Samakatuwid, kung pinabayaan ko lang pala ang lecheng ringback na 'to in 5 days, chances are I'll be charged for something that I did unknowingly just because I did pasaload a friend? Yun ang pagkakaintindi ko ha, because why do I have to bother cancelling or deleting the said ringback tune if mawawala din yun eventually?

Itong Smart talaga, masyadong wa-is!

If someone from Smart is reading this post, please enlighten me.

In The Name Of Popcorn

I left out in my Best and Worst list of 2009 the movies that I’ve seen this year.

Eh kasi naman madalang lang ang punta ko sa mga sinehan but anyway, here are some of the movies na napanood ko for the entire 2009 together with my thoughts on it whether I liked it or not. Hahaha!

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

Well, na-enjoy ko naman ang movie na’to kahit na hate ko si Megan Fox. The effects were convincing and fabulous and Shia Le’bouf did a better acting compared to the first one. I also liked the way they injected the story of the transformers sa ating history. I give this movie a 7.

Surrogates

Na-save lang ng konting drama between the bida Bruce Willis and his wife but in the end, chakaness pa rin and nasayang lang ang oras ko. This movie is a 4.

Knowing

This is one suspense drama na inabangan ko nung mapanood ang trailer especially because of Nicolas Cage. I give this movie a 6.

New In Town

Renee Zellwegger and Harry Connick Jr. is an interesting pair. Wala silang chemistry. Anyway, the plot of this film is cute and makes you feel good. Renee is brilliant in her performance as a newbie in a new town. I love romantic comedies so kahit hindi bagay ang mga bida, I’ll still give this an 8.

Angels and Demons

This prequel to The Da Vinci Code is perfect in terms of casting. The main actors are exceptional sa kani-kanilang roles especially Ewan McGregor na inagawan ng eksena si Tom Hanks in terms of acting. Well, I enjoyed the movie and how they interpreted the book but like any other film adaptation, the book is way much better than the movie. My score for this is 7.

Fast and Furious

This fourth installment (hopefully the last) of the Fast and the Furious chorva is just a good movie if you want to waste your time or you want to complete the whole series. Vin Diesel is one note, pati na yung mga kasamahan niyang bida. In short, kung napanood mo yung first one, kapareho lang ang takbo ng istorya nito. This movie deserves a 4.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

As an X-Men fan, I loved this one. Maganda ang pagkakasulat ng history ni Logan, and in fairness bongga naman ang acting ni Hugh Jackman, pero mas bongga ang acting ng villain na si Sabretooth played by Liev Schreiber. Effective ang pagiging killer niya, very scary. The introduction of new characters is also exciting, especially Gambit and Emma Frost. Sana may kasunod na ulet. I give this movie an 8.5.

The Proposal

I like Sandra Bullock here because she’s maarte and well-groomed compared to her other movies. She and co-actor Ryan Reynolds have a chemistry and both of them are sexy especially that scene where they were both naked. I will definitely buy a dvd copy of this movie. My score is 9.

Push

Another movie with characters who has superpowers but this one is a letdown. In fairness, the fight scenes are not boring and lead stars Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning just did okay. Masyado pang maaga for this. This one is a 6.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

I thought Kate Beckinsale was the bida of this movie because the actress playing the lead role is so kamukha niya. Her name is Rhona Mitra. Anyway, I’m also a fan of this series so I liked this prequel. They gave Lucian’s character a justification kung bakit siya naging villain in the first movie. I wished they had more gwapo characters because sa totoo lang ang chachaka ng mga actors dito. My score for this movie is 7.

He’s Just Not That Into You

With an all-star cast led by Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore, this I thought is a promising movie and it did not failed me. There is chemistry and I thought Ginnifer Goodwin stole the show compared to the acting of the more seeasoned ones. I really liked this movie and I’m giving it a 9.

2012

Mediocre. Tragic. Predictable. I thought the dog did a better acting than John Cusack. To be fair, box-office naman ang naturang movie so all-in-all okay na rin. Puede na siguro ang 6.

Kimmy Dora

The only local film na nandito sa yearend recap ko. The best comedy movie of the year, Eugene Domingo is a very talented actress. She can do comedy, drama and action in one scene, very amazing. I already bought a dvd copy and thrice ko na siyang napanood in two days. This movie deserves a perfect 10.

New Moon

If not for Taylor Lautner’s topless scenes ay hindi ko panonoorin ang sequel na ‘to. Let’s just say nagsawa na ako sa Twilight saga and it’s not exciting for me anymore. Would I watch again? Probably not. Na-bore talaga ako I went out for another round of Burger McDo meal. Twilight fans, hate me. I’ll give this movie a 6.

Well, that’s it mga friends. Anyway, I hope to see better movies next year especially locally-produced ones.

Ako, kaya kelan magkaka-pelikula?

2009

Well, well, well....

The year 2009 is about to end in a few days.

That being said, I’d like to give you my Best and Worst List for this year in my fields of interest.

Charing!

Last year ginawa ko rin ito and natuwa ako sa ginawa ko noon na kinatuwa din naman ng iilan kong readers kaya I’m bringing this again.

2009 has been a very challenging year for us lalo na dahil nahagupit tayo ng mga unos na first time nangyari sa history ng Pilipinas. So, without further eklavoo, here it is.

My Best and Worst List for the year 2009.

The Best in Music

This is the year for Lady Gaga. She redefined the ‘lukaret look’ with her outrageous costumes na tinaasan ng kilay ng mga fashion critics. Some were positive, others call her ‘interesting’. Well, aminin din natin na sobrang talented and bruhang ‘to. She’s not just a performer but a talented songwriter and musician too.

The Worst in Music

Kanye West. Was he on something when he did what he wasn’t supposed to do during the MTV Video Music Awards? Mukhang nakahithit ng katol ang ‘sang ‘to. Very disappointing talaga. Well, I don’t listen to his music din naman that much, so care ko. He is still the worst for this year for that shameful act.

The Best in Fashion

Runway looks for retail prices. Dahil na rin siguro sa fact that we are still recovering from the recession ay naging haven sa mga shoppers and fashionistas ang retail stores which produced very trend-friendly yet affordable pieces that could rival the expensive brands we see on various fashion weeks. Thank God for youthful designers and creative teams behind these local retail brands.

The Worst in Fashion

Project Runway Philippines, Season 2. What happened to this franchise? Akala ko ba contest ito to find the Philippines’ next best designer eh mananahi yung nanalo? Kakalokah! Na-lost na yata ang criteria for creativity and talent ng show na ‘to. Juice ko ‘day! Whatever happened to the judges’ taste. Huge disappointment indeed.

The Best in Sports

He made us proud to be Filipino again for bringing home his 7th title to date. Knocking out one boxer to another is enough for him to be named the greatest boxer of all time.

The Worst in Sports

Tiger Woods, womanizer. Nakakaloka itong si Tiger. Hindi pa nagkasya sa dalawang kabit at lumalabas na he has 10 other women aside from his wife, Elin. Tsk tsk Tiger. Gatorade has dropped him as their endorser. May susunod pa kaya? Hahaha!

The Best in Politics

Democracy lives on. Even though we lost Tita Cory this year, her legacy will always live. They may be in power but our freedom and democracy will always prevail especially because we know how to use our voice and we have promising individuals that might become catalyst for change in our country. Well, hopefully.

The Worst in Politics

The Ampatuan massacre. The most gruesome killing in history linked to politics. 64 lives were lost and most of the perpetrators are still at large.

The Best in the Filipino

Kindness. During typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng where most of our kababayans in Luzon where affected, it showed how helpful and charitable Filipinos can be in times of crisis.

The Worst in the Filipino

Gamitan. During the same time, may mga pulitiko din na nagsamantala upang gawing kampanya sa kani-kanilang mga teritoryo ang pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan. One presidentiable even placed his name in all of the food packs he distributed in the affected areas. Talk about kakapalan ng mukha. Huwag niyong iboboto ang [expletive] na ‘yan.

The Best in Blogging

Siyempre, the birth of Barrio Siete. My other home shared with some of the world’s most beautiful bloggers. Hahaha! With the leadership of La Kapitana Reyna Elena, Barrio Siete became an avenue for Filipinos worldwide to share their thoughts on issues that concern not only the Philippines but humanity as a whole covering topics about politics, entertainment, culture, and a whole lot more. Hahaha!

The Worst in Blogging

The controversial pa-kontest kuno about Emerging Influential Bloggers. Lutong Macau much? Nakakaloka ang lutuang naganap I tell you. Up until now, the concerned individuals are keeping mum about the said controversy, palibhasa guilty. Well, they all went down the drain, together with their so-called credibilities.

The Best Person

Efren Penaflorida. CNN’s Hero of the Year. Founder of Dynamic Teen Company. Totally deserving of such honour. He showed us that despite the lack of resources and funds, one can still make a difference if he is just willing to help and be an instrument for change.

The Worst Person

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Do I have to say why?

That's it! I know I did not cover everything, napagod na ako eh. Hahaha!
Til next year, sana wala nang worst noh. The Best na lang lahat.

Wish ko lang.
