But not until today. My happiness turned a little sour.
Well, let's just say, I became unsatisfied and quite disappointed with what I discovered. One very talented woman is not so happy about Rajo's cob web dress and I understand why.
Cebu fashion designer Arcy Gayatin.

Arcy Gayatin produced a cob web collection six years ago. Here are some of them.

Hmmmm…
What do you think?
Was Rajo a copycat?
Who does it better?
Ah ewan. Pati mga fashion people nagkakagulo at nagkakampihan na.
If you ask me, I like Arcy's better.
And hers was the original.
Kahit sabihin pa ng iba diyan na mas bongga ang ginawa ni Rajo, chaka pa rin ang ginawa niya.
Oo nga, the shredding technique is an old style of fabrication but hello, it was obviously Arcy who made it first and used it in her collection.
And don't tell me Rajo was inspired by 'insects' (his collection is called Insecticide) because as far as I know, ang mga spiders na gumagawa ng cob webs ay arachnids. Not insects.

biased ako 'cause he's a schoolmate. GO RAJO!!!!
hahah. natawa ako sa insects vs arachnids. haha.
Actually may point ka. Ibang subphylum ang Chelicerata at Hexapoda. Ibig sabihin, hiwalay ang Arachnids sa Insects. Lol.
Rajo Laurel should give way for new fashion designers.
Ako din natawa sa distinction ng spider at arachnids...
OMG!!! I also so this on the other blog but Rajo's works are such rip-off like his past collections, he was never original by the way but the dress that ruffa wore in this blog shows a proof of similarity of treatment and look... rajo vs. alice auaa http://leetolmissjoyce.blogspot.com/2010/02/uncanny-similarity-between-rajo-laurel.html it sad daming copy-cats na pinoy... to think it is faster to copy the other's success than to find ones own... sad..
Oh, please. If you people are gonna pretend to be fashion pundits or critics, you need to know fashion history. This Arcy person did not invent shredding. Not by a longshot. It's amazing how Filipino culture always devolves into petty jealousy and the infamous "crab mentality".
Hello anonymous, first of all I'm not trying to be a fashion critic. I know Arcy did not 'invent' shredding but I know for a fact that this shredding came out first in Arcy's collection six years ago. And during the Sposabella show in Cebu where Arcy presented the collection Rajo was there admiring Arcy's work. Clearly, his idea of creating a similar collection came from there.
