Bee Unhappy

This is an open letter to my all-time favourite food chain.

Dear Jollibee,

First of all, thank you for making my pamangkins happy.

They love you so much especially Zoe who insists on celebrating her birthday with you every year.

I wrote because of a very important decision you made that made me unhappy.
I love chicken. I love your Chickenjoy. Super. But ever since Jollibee Chicken Barbecue came out in the market, it has been my favourite chicken dish of all time.

No more chickenjoy, no more chicken inasal from other restaurants. I used to eat Jollibee Chicken barbecue whenever I’m in the city (I work in a farm) but when I started my weight loss diet I can only eat it on weekends and I consume as much as 2-3 servings in one sitting. Matakaw kasi ako.

Two weekends ago, I was in Cagayan de Oro. When I ordered the Chicken Barbecue at SM during lunchtime, I noticed that the special barbecue sauce was replaced by soy sauce and calamansi. I thought, naubusan lang siguro ng sauce. On our way home, we dropped by another Jollibee branch to buy Chicken Barbecue for dinner. When we arrived at home, I was disappointed to see that wala din yung sauce and the toyo and calamansi was its replacement.

Last weekend, I was home in Davao and yes, once again I dropped by Jollibee for my Chicken barbecue fix. Again, there’s no special barbecue sauce. I was starting to worry because maybe, the lack of that special sauce is a nationwide thing. Honestly, I did not enjoy my meal as much as I used to before. In fact, I only consumed 1 piece.

This afternoon my officemate brought 4 orders of the Chicken Barbecue (she knows I’m so matakaw and I don’t share) but to my disappointment, wala pa rin yung special barbecue sauce.

So I called one branch in Davao and asked why there’s no more sauce. He told me that they received a memo to use toyo-mansi to go with the Chicken Barbecue instead of the usual sauce, which really made me sad.

Not satisfied with his answer, I called Jollibee Customer Service hotline but the girl who answered said the same thing.

Now, I honestly believe that what made Jollibee Chicken Barbecue delicious and ‘addicting’ is because of that sauce.

I’m really disappointed that you decided to replace it with soy sauce and calamansi which I think do not give justice to the Chicken Barbecue. It doesn’t taste right and I do not experience the same level of happiness, satisfaction and natural high anymore when I eat it.

That being said, starting today, I will no longer buy and recommend the present Jollibee Chicken Barbecue with toyo-mansi, unless you bring back the special barbecue sauce.

So unhappy,
Mel

I also experienced that in Mandaluyong.
